DESIGN AUTOMATION: Discover macros in SOLIDWORKS, the programmable world beyond the user interface
The seminar will be led by David Trevas, Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Rice University in Houston.
Abstract
SolidWorks enables users to model parts, create assemblies with mating conditions, and simulate mechanical behavior using Motion Analysis, which applies physics to extract kinematic and dynamic data. Advanced capabilities are accessible through the API by recording and editing macros in VBA, allowing for automation, complex geometry creation, and performance analysis beyond the standard user interface.
BIO
Dr. David Trevas is a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Rice University in Houston, Texas, which is also his alma mater. Before returning to academia, Dr. Trevas had about 25 years of experience in industry including Exxon, University of Texas Medical School, Halliburton, Baker-Hughes, GE Oil & Gas, Eaton and others. His doctoral dissertation was in the field of experimental heat transfer. In industry, he worked in design automation, R&D and New Product Development.
