Biografia

Davide Celestini is a PhD student in Aerospace Engineering at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS) of Politecnico di Torino. During his university course, he took part in the aeronautical project of the student team Team S55, focused on the realization of an historical seaplane flying scale model. He received his Master of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering on April 2021, with a thesis developed in collaboration with Thales Alenia Space. The work focused on Guidance, Navigation and Control algorithms for autonomous space proximity operations exploiting Harmonic Artificial Potential Fields and Sliding-Mode Observers. After the graduation, he started working at DIMEAS on a research activity in collaboration with Leonardo focused on path and trajectory planning for UAV’s swarms missions. In November 2021, he started his PhD program focused on the design of optimization alogothms for autonomous robotic systems. In September 2023 he started a visiting research period at the Autonomous Systems Lab,Stanford University. He is currently working on trajectory optimization and learning-based techinques for autonomous space robotics.
