Biography

Federica Portis, a recent graduate in aerospace engineering, has a deep interest in the aerospace field, and her main research interests are hypersonic fluid dynamics, atmospheric reentry and rarefied gas dynamics. She is currently a PhD student in aerospace engineering at Politecnico di Torino, where she received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees, specializing in aerodynamics and space.
Her research, in collaboration with CIRA (Italian Aerospace Research Center), focuses on Reduced-Order Methods (ROMs) applied to the preliminary phases of aerodynamic design of hypersonic vehicles, such as capsules, Shuttle-like reentry vehicles, and hypersonic vehicles with scramjet propulsion.
