After his Phd in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (Italy) and Scuola Interpolitecnica di Dottorato, he was granted a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Global Fellowship from the European Research Council to work at the Biomedical Simulation Laboratory of the University of Toronto (Canada). He is currently an Associate Professor in Industrial Bioengineering in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the PoliToBIOMed Lab of Politecnico di Torino. He served as Guest Editor for the Annals of Biomedical Engineering (Springer-Nature) and he is currently an Associate Editor in Pediatric Cardiology - Frontiers in Pediatrics and Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine (Frontiers), an Associate Editor for Cardiovascular Engineering and Technology (Springer-Nature) and a Topic Editor for Fluids (MDPI). He served for two terms in the Executive Board of the Italian Chapter of the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB-ITA). His current research focuses on elucidating the associations between blood fluid mechanics, vascular morphometry and cardiovascular disease development, diagnosis and treatment; the clinical translation of these associations; the design and optimization of cardiovascular devices and surgical techniques. He is author of 4 patents and 120+ publications, 80+ of them in peer-reviewed international scientific journals. He was the recipient of the 2018 Jack Perkins Prize for the best scientific paper published in 2017 in Medical Engineering & Physics (Springer-Nature).
