Biography

Andrea Alliaud was born in Turin on 28/02/1996.
In 2018 he obtained the Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. During his studies, he did a curricular internship at Officine Ortopediche Maria Adelaide (Torino), a company specialized in the design, production, customization and sale of medical devices for disabilities, including corsets, orthoses and prostheses. The subject of the work was the analysis of the state of the art on transradial myoelectric prostheses. The internship was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Cristina Bignardi and Dr. Alessio Ariagno.
In 2021 he obtained the Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. The topic of the master's thesis was the design and optimization of a plasma polymerization process for the realization of antimicrobial surfaces for voice prostheses. The thesis was carried out at Politecnico di Torino under the supervision of Dr. Irene Carmagnola, Prof. Valeria Chiono and Prof. Gianluca Ciardelli.
In June 2022 he started to work as a research fellow in the framework of the European project H2020 ALTERNATIVE coordinated by Prof. Gianluca Ciardelli (Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Politecnico di Torino).
In November 2022 he was enrolled as a Ph.D. student in the framework of the Ph.D. programme in "Bioengineering and medical-surgical sciences" jointly proposed by Politecnico di Torino and Università degli Studi di Torino. He is currently working under the supervision of Prof. Monica Boffito, Prof. Gianluca Ciardelli and Dr. Rossella Laurano. The subject of the Ph.D. project is the development and validation of a three-dimensional bioengineered model of the cardiac tissue for the cytotoxicity assessment of drugs and chemicals.
