Advanced finite elements for mechanical and multi-field problems - prof. Carrera

Sala Ferrari – 2° FLOOR DIMEAS

The Finite Element Model is widely used in many engineering fields. The use of classical structural models may lead to inaccurate results, especially when advanced materials, such as composites or smart materials, are considered. This course introduces the use of refined Finite Element Models able to overcome the typical limitations of the classical formulations. The use of a unified approach, the Carrera Unified Formulation, will lead to a compact and general formulation. Then, the capabilities of these refined models will be employed and extended to mechanical, aerospace, and civil engineering as well as to multi-field analyses and bio-medical applications.
